the Rubicon Project Recruits Publishing Industry Veteran in UK

Nigel Edmund-Jones, Formerly of News International and Haymarket, Joins Publisher Development Team

LONDON, UK – June 30, 2011 - the Rubicon Project, the advertising technology company, is increasing its publisher services expertise with the appointment of Nigel Edmund-Jones, a veteran of the UK’s online media industry. Drawing on eleven years of experience at News International, the UK’s largest newspaper group, and Haymarket Consumer Media, Edmund-Jones will join as Director of Publisher Services to support an already established team of publisher advertising technology experts and will be focused on international sales strategy. In addition, Edmund-Jones will be responsible for providing publisher-based insight to product development and offering consultative services to the Rubicon Project’s premium international publisher clients, including Virgin Media, Le Monde, The Guardian and The Times of India.

Edmund-Jones will report to Jay Stevens, VP and General Manager, International at the Rubicon Project, to help online publishers leverage REVV, the world’s leading yield optimization platform, in order to safely, effectively and efficiently monetize their digital advertising inventory.  He will advise clients on the most effective strategies for emerging monetization technologies through Protected Real-Time Bidding (RTB) technology and the establishment of private marketplaces, alongside existing sources of demand for their inventory, ensuring each ad impression is sold through the best channel for the highest price possible.

Edmund-Jones brings a wealth of publishing and Online Ad Operations experience to the Rubicon Project.  He spent the last year at Haymarket Consumer Media with day-to-day responsibility for online display advertising trafficking, systems and operations, including inventory management, pre-roll video, behavioural targeting and non-premium inventory management systems to replace manual network optimization.

Prior to that, Edmund-Jones spent ten years running online advertising operations and developing key systems for News International across all its media properties including Times Online, Sun Online, News of The World, Page3.com and thelondonpaper.  As well as optimizing content management systems and integrating email marketing programs, he was an active member of AdMonsters and DoubleClick’s User industry group.  He managed a multimedia design studio before that, following a twelve-year career in journalism and editing with Egon Ronay’s Leisure Guides.

Commenting on the appointment, Nick Hulse, Chief Revenue Officer at the Rubicon Project, explains, “Nigel has unparalleled experience of working at the UK’s largest newspaper group and integrating a variety of advertising technologies from all the leading players in this industry.  Our premium publisher clients will now have access to his invaluable consultancy to help them identify and implement the best strategy possible for optimizing the performance of their online advertising efforts while protecting their brand.”

Nigel Edmund-Jones, Director of Publisher Services, the Rubicon Project, adds, “I have worked with the Rubicon Project over the past three years and have always been impressed by the quality of their technology and commitment to understanding the best way to help publishers optimize revenues so they can run their businesses most efficiently and effectively.  This role will enable me to share my experience of integrating yield optimization technologies to maximise the revenues of premium publishers around the world and support the continued growth of the online media industry.”

the Rubicon Project’s REVV yield optimization platform process 250 billion real-time bid transactions per month and is engineered to empower publishers to monetize digital content across all sources of demand.  Monetizing more than 90 billion ad impressions each month across more than 565 million unique users around the globe, REVV provides the precise combination of technology, data and access to demand that empowers publishers to thrive.  Nigel Edmund-Jones will commence employment with the Rubicon Project on July 1, 2011 and will be based in offices on London’s Regent Street.
